22 days!
Of course, now that there are only 22 days left, the weather is getting nicer and we are having all sorts of barbecues and fun playing Rounders (a reallllllly dumb, useless version of baseball), basketball on the outdoor courts, gossip sessions in Alexandra Square, etc... It's amazing how much nicer a place is in the spring! Instead of being holed up in their rooms all the time, everyone is out and about. It's so much fun being able to randomly sit on picnic benches or take walks down to the pitches where everyone seems to congregate on pleasant days (especially when your friends get randomly picked up and kidnapped mid-conversation).
I just hope the weather holds up for the next month for my adventures around the UK.
As an aside, for those of you I haven't told... boy isn't coming after all. Surprisingly, it's not his fault and the situation is such that I would feel like a heel if I complained. I was pissed for about a week seeing as how I had spent a lot of time planning the trip, had left Barcelona early not just to do work but so that I would have extra money to spend on time with him, had picked out restaurants in town we could go to and had told all of my friends that they were going to get to meet him... oh, and, the biggest annoyance of all... I don't know how I'm going to get all of my stuff home (he was supposed to bring an extra bag for me... grrrrr).
On the bright side, I now get to do a full tour of the UK! (I didn't really want to see the French again anyway...) A 10 day adventure of Manchester, Liverpool, London, Dublin, Edinburgh, Glasgow and Stirling. Besides getting to see famous historical sites, multiple castles and sampling famous beers & whiskeys straight from the source, we'll be staying in the coolest hostels. Everyone we booked is on the "10 Best Hostels in Europe" list. One is inside a medieval church!! I'm so excited!
Also, I figure that if things are meant to work out between boy and I, we can go to Europe some other time. I've become really tight with people from Germany, Prague, Spain, Ireland and Dubai (!!!) and all have offered a place to crash at in the future. Alternatively, if we both have real incomes at that point, maybe we could even stay in actual hotels and eat quality food as opposed to grungy hostels and super-cheap dinners.
Geez... getting a bit ahead of myself there. I'm not one to plan futures around boys. Given my luck, I know better. Either way, provided I don't fail any more courses, I should be able to support myself just fine in the future and won't have to rely on anyone else for trips to Europe, or, while I'm putting myself through law school... trips to Lake Erie.
Anyways... as always, I've digressed... point is, the next 22 days should go quickly with lots of barbecues, birthday parties, bar crawls, finals and traveling in store!
